The Butterfly Awards 2015

On Friday 9th October Ruth and Graham (Jessica’s parents) travelled to The Bank House Hotel near Malvern in Worcester, this is the third year that TJSF have sponsored an award and the second to be shortlisted for UK Support Organisation. The Butterfly Awards have been created by two lovely ladies called Mel Scott (Towards Tomorrow Together, Finley’s Footprints) and Jade Deverill (Healthcare and Babyloss Services Ltd) who aim to honour and celebrate survivors and champions of babyloss. They include several categories every year where you can nominate individuals and/or organisations, these are then shortlisted and people are invited to vote for their favourite. It’s the results from these votes and also the judges that decides who the winner is.

The evening itself is an amazingly, inspirational evening where hundreds of bereaved parents, friends, families and also organisations come together to raise awareness of one thing – Babyloss. The categories, sponsors and winner are listed below – you can click on their names to be forwarded to their website.

The Ultimate Challenge

Our Chair and Founder Ruth Sherman is undertaking the ultimate challenge for her over the coming year. She is taking part in 6 endurance events in a bid to raise £5000 to enable us to register as a charity with the Charities Commission. Ruth’s list of events includes the MK Festival of Running (5km) on 8th March, a 50k bike ride from West Bletchley to Olney Green Burial Ground and back on 23rd May, and the Grand Union Challenge 100km in 24 hours (walking) on the 27th June. In September she plans to tackle the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge, followed by the Mud Runner on 18th October and the MK Winter Half Marathon. I am sure you will agree that this is no mean feat as Ruth finds time to train as well as run TJSF, work her regular job and keep her family in order, however she manages it we are 100% behind her.

If you would like to sponsor Ruth please click here.

If you would like some more information on how you can help please take a look at our How You Can Help page.

Mini Wonderland MK

From 18th-21st of December we had the honour and privilege of supplying the craft activities for Mini Wonderland MK. We had an amazing but tiring few days but most of all we had great fun decorating baubles, making Christmas cards and angels as well as a colouring competition.

Over the four days we raised £273.60 which will go towards funding pebbles for the Forget-Me-Not garden and also Angel Babies for the bereavement boxes both at Milton Keynes General Hospital.

Remembering at Christmas

Yesterday, 7th December 2014, saw our 2nd Remembering at Christmas service. It was lovely to see some old and new faces but also saddening too, although it did re-affirm why we do this. We had some beautiful poems read and sang some wonderful hymns and carols that we choose with a lot of thought, and we’re pleased they were received so well by not only church goers but also by others too. Despite some technical problems with the memorial tree we still think it looks beautiful. We will be doing the service again next year and you are more than welcome to come along.

Christmas Fair 2014

What an amazing day we have had.Firstly I would like to thank Chestnuts Primary School for allowing us to take over the school once again, all the stall holders who bought along their wonderful wares (sorry if I didn’t get round to you before the end) and not forgetting all those who came along to support us and the stall holders. But,
My biggest thank you’s have to go to the TJSF team, I really could not have done it without your help, so THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

Now for the news you have all been waiting for I’m sure. This was by far our best event yet, we raised an amazing £629.19. This will help so many families thank you ssoo much once again.

We will be donating money towards getting The Butterfly Suite at MKGH soundproofed and using the rest of the money to set up our new service that will be available to Milton Keynes families in the first instance then hopefully further afield. More details of this service will be available soon.

With regards to the Santa photos that were taken on the day we are currently building a dropbox gallery that is password protected to enable us to share them securely. When they are ready they will be available to buy at £4 each, this will include any postage costs. If you know the number of the photo then please contact us as we will be able to print them from this.

Until next time x Ruth x

What’s Happening At TJSF

Apologies for not updating our website for a while, we have been concentrating on supporting people.

So what’s new?

We are starting to launch our range of keepsakes beginning with our memorial pebbles. They will be available through this website very soon.

We are also very close to announcing our new project which is going to be available at Milton Keynes Hospital to begin with the hopefully further afield. Watch this space

What have we been up to?

We have helped Milton Keynes Baby Bereavement Service by donating the proceeds of our Easter Fair (£350) towards re-developing their memorial garden. The opening day was a wonderful event although very emotional seeing all the families that have been through a devastating loss.

On 11th October Jessica’s Mum and Dad attended the 2nd Annual Butterfly Awards at Chesford Grange Hotel near Birmingham. Another very emotional but highly inspirational evening in which we sponsored the Most Cherished Keepsake category which was won by ComforTED. ComforTED’s primary mission is to provide recently bereaved parents of tiny babies with a pair of teddies. One to hold your child’s hand long after you are unable to. The other to be cherished as a keepsake. You can find ComforTED on Facebook by following this link

What’s next?

We have 2 more events this year, these can be found on our events page. We are also looking for people to do some fundraising for us so we can carry on supporting people. Please contact us if you have a crazy idea or just want to do a sponsored silence. We are still hoping to get our registered charity number this year so every little helps.

Please make sure you stop by our links page as we will be adding more today x
